Laboratory Technician
University of Notre Dame, Belovsky lab
About
For the past two years, I have had the opportunity to be the primary technician working on the ecological research into the Great Salt Lake (GSL), Utah in the Belovsky lab at the University of Notre Dame. I have worked closely with my PI, Gary Belovsky, to develop plans and conduct experiments. The data from these experiments are being used to create a model that includes food web dynamics and the nutrient cycling in the GSL.
The best part of my job is that I am working to create protocols and discover information that hasn’t been done quite this way before.
I also have the pleasure of working with a variety of undergraduate students. I train and supervise them while they work in the lab. Some of them also do research as part of their undergraduate program.
